Because of these extraordinary times many of our children are struggling in school. Our Virtual Child Tutoring Program is available to help elementary students grades 1st through 4th from area schools who are not performing at grade level in reading and/or math. We provide one-to-one tutoring with assessments. The children will play learning games , have literacy time and other focused activities. Parents will be sent a link through their email and all sessions will be done through zoom. An application is required.
Virtual Bedtime Stories
Looking for something of interest for your early elementary school age child? We have partnered with the Lapeer District Library to bring you a fun literacy series called Bedtime Stories. A total of 8 books will be read throughout the year by special guest speakers. You can access our stories on our You Tube channel Read Lapeer or you can view them on our Facebook page Family Literacy Center. The stories will range from chapter books to everyone’s favorite Dr. Seuss! So listen in for some great story telling for the whole family.
Check It Out! Videos
Check out our parent tip sessions, "Check It Out," that will feature quality information and practical advice for parents to help with the educational development of your children. "Check it out!" can be viewed on our You Tube channel, Read Lapeer, or on our Facebook page Family Literacy Center.
Virtual Child Tutoring
The best way to create a love of reading is having access to books. Having a book of your own is a special treat for children. To make sure that every child we meet has a book the Family Literacy gives books away at all of our programs and events we attend in the community. To do this we need donations of NEW or Like NEW children's books. If you have new or like new children's books you would like to donate, please call the office at 810-664-2737 to set up a drop-off time.
